Sell your Taylor home now, or wait? See how homes at your price fared

Quick answer

In my read, sell now if your Taylor home would list between $250,000 and $299,999.

In the three months ending October 15, 2026, homes in that range closed at 97.1% of original asking, a seller’s market for that range. Taylor as a whole reads balanced, and a price point changes which market a home is in, so at any other price I would set the first price from the closings in your range before deciding to wait.

Has waiting for last year’s price worked for Taylor sellers?

The typical home closed for $284,052 in the last three months, against $293,500 in the same three months last year, so a seller who held out for the earlier number met the lower one.

Volume shows the same gap, with 65 closings in the last three months against 85 in the same three months last year.

Over the past twelve months the busiest subdivisions were new-build communities such as Spring Creek and Castlewood South. The chart below puts this season beside the same season a year ago.

Are Taylor buyers still buying?

Buyers are still choosing Taylor homes. Right now 13 are active under contract and another 16 are pending, which means a buyer has already picked each of them.

That pipeline sits beside 170 homes for sale, so a new listing is one of many, and in my read the first price decides how quickly a buyer picks it.

What happens to Taylor sellers who start high?

Right now 59.4% of the homes for sale in Taylor are priced below where they started. In my read, a high first price here has often become a cut one.

Why some listings never sell at all is on Why aren’t homes selling in Taylor? What the homes that did sell tell you

Does my price range change the answer?

Taylor overall reads balanced, and that is the reading for the town as a whole. A price point puts your home in its own market, and Table 1 shows the ranges with enough recent sales to call. I use the last three months when a range had at least 10 sales, because that is the freshest evidence, and I fall back to twelve months when it did not, because a handful of sales says little about a market.

Table 1. Taylor homes by price range. Sales are from the 90 days ending October 15, 2026; homes for sale are as of October 16, 2026. A range is a seller’s market when homes sell for at least 97% of their original asking price, balanced from 94% to 97%, and a buyer’s market below 94%. Each reading is for that price range only; a different price point changes which market a home is in. Only price ranges with at least 10 sales in the last 90 days are shown. Source: Unlock MLS.

The $250,000 to $299,999 range sits above the town, a seller’s market for that range, with homes going under contract in a median 41 days.

The $350,000 to $399,999 range reads balanced for that range, like the town, at a median 50 days to contract.

Ranges with fewer than 10 recent sales are read on the twelve-month basis, and the $300,000 to $349,999 range reads balanced on that basis for that range. The rest are tabled on What can the 76574 numbers tell a Taylor seller, and what can they not?

In my read, a home priced where recent buyers paid in its own range is the home to list now, and a home priced above its range’s closings is the one to hold back until the price is corrected.

How do the builders affect my timing?

Builders list a minority of the homes for sale in Taylor, so the timing question is mostly about other resales, whose price cuts are already on the market. A home that is move-in ready can list into that field with confidence in its condition, and one that needs work is better served by fixing the items first.

The exceptions are the builder communities. Spring Creek has 3 homes for sale now while Castlewood has 12, and a buyer touring beside either one may see a builder’s listing the same day as yours. Who is listing what is on Selling a Taylor resale? Which listings will your buyer weigh against yours?

Sell now, or wait? Which one fits your home?

The town reading points one way and your price range can point another, so I sort a home by its range before I answer. Run your address and I will place yours.

What a buyer would pay for your home is on Is last year’s Taylor sale price the number your buyer will use?

Your situation

The answer to now or later depends on the price at which you would list. A home near Castlewood may be up against a builder’s listing, and a home in Doak Add is up against the resale listings around it, which in Taylor have mostly cut.

The test for your house: at the price you would list at, would a buyer pick it on this month’s tour, or would it become one more cut?
